We come to the end of Romans 8 this week (8:31-39) where Paul assures us, by sharing his own conviction, that nothing at all can separate us from the love of God in Christ. Do we know this love of God? Are we, like Paul, absolutely sure that nothing can separate us from it? We can be... through him who loved us. This passage not only sums up much of what we have been hearing over the past weeks, it also prepares us for what is to come in the following chapters. If we do not know the love of God, then Chapters 9-11, and 12-16, will only serve to confound us, rather than comfort us in the Lord's sovereign wisdom and ways. May the Father grant us this assurance, together with the strength to comprehend this love of Christ that surpasses knowledge.
