Because Jesus Christ obeyed the OT Law perfectly, thus fulfilling it, he was sinless and could make atonement for his people. His righteousness obtained by fulfilling the OT Law is imputed to His people and so, therefore, we are no longer under the OT Law. It is no longer legally valid as a covenant having been fulfilled by him and replaced by the New Covenant.
