The epistle of Jude was written in approximately 66 A.D. All Christians, and particularly Jewish Christians, were being persecuted by the corrupted priesthood of Israel. This epistle is written just before the Roman destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem by Titus in 70 A.D.
However, the Romans did not distinguish between Jews and Jewish Christians in their persecutions. Therefore, the Romans were also persecuting Christians. Secondly, local churches were being infiltrated with Jews who professed faith in Christ as Messiah, but still wanted to function under the Mosaic Covenant thereby corrupting the faith and the "gospel" as Paul addresses in Galatians 1:6-9. The Romans hated the Jews because the Jews were vehemently monotheistic while the Romans were equally vehemently polytheistic. Both the Jews and the Romans hated the Christians because the Christians believed Jesus was the one true God and that Jesus was Jehovah incarnate.
