While meditating on the things of God, he wrote a psalm about the goodness and pleasantness for brethren to dwell together in unity. These words are recorded for us in Psalm 133. The opening title identifies David as the author and lets us know that this is A Song of Degrees or Psalm of Ascent. Psalm 120- 134 are in a category of Psalms that were sung as faithful Jews would travel up the hill to Jerusalem to worship at the Temple during the Great Feasts of Israel- Passover/Unleavened Bread, Pentecost, and Tabernacles. These pilgrims had a few songs that would sustain them for the journey and invoke wonderful thoughts of God and of Zion, the city of the Great King. God still inhabits the praises of His people. Almighty God is on His throne looking down from heaven. He has not changed and His Word endures forever. This morning I want us to turn to this Psalm and soak up the richness of the message as it relates to the local church. Over the last few nights, we have set aside some time to gather together to glorify God by hearing the Gospel, worshipping the Lord, and inviting our lost family and friends. We have had a good time in the Lord. This morning, I desire with the Lord’s help to preach on Dwelling Together in Unity.
