1 Timothy 4:1 was written in the mid-60s in the 1st century, though everything about it feels like it was written specifically about us living in the 21st century, because the big takeaway from this passage is that the last days will be characterized by incredible deception and apostasy and the church needs to be prepared for it. Some of what I'm going to say in this sermon may very well be considered hate speech because I submit to you that the clearest demonstration of the kind of apostasy 1 Timothy 4 is talking about as it applies in our day is this push within the church to accept and affirm the gay lifestyle as compatible with Scripture and the Christian faith. As we bring the word of God to bear on the issues of our day, we see the relevancy of 1 Timothy 4:1 to our culture's wholesale rejection of biblical sexuality that is now creeping into the church, and it will not stop until biblical Christianity has been completely redefined to suit the progressive ideology of our day.
