Given the disobedient and contrary ways of Israel, some were questioning whether God had rejected his people and had withdrawn his covenant promises to them through Abraham. However, in this section of Romans 11, Paul assures his readers that God had not rejected his people whom He foreknew. Rather, God in His wisdom had reserved for His own glory a remnant, chosen by sovereign grace, who would receive the grace of salvation. In fact, Paul was a member of that remnant and he humbly points to himself as proof that God is graciously fulfilling his promises through Christ.
