There’s a tremendous temptation to join them and just live in a cardboard shack along the side of that road instead of the mansion that Jesus desires for our spiritual lives. There’s a tremendous temptation to just say “I’m tired, I’m going to let somebody else carry the ball for a while. I’m all for Jesus and I’m all for ministry but somebody else is going to have to carry that ball.” There is a tremendous temptation to allow our loyalties to be divided. We must remin focused on the goal of our faith
Hebrews 12:1-3 says... Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Are you stranded on the road to victory.?
This is important because I believe that God wants to do something great right here in and through this body of believers. But the question is whether we are going to just thnk God can do something great or whether we will really give our lives to see God do something great. If our loyalties are to God then our loyalties will also be to the ministry that God has us in. We need to move from “God can”, to “God will.” Not in some name it claim it sort of way, but rather with the faith to believe that God wants to do great things through faithful people.
