It isn't by accident that Paul begins the content of this letter with thanksgiving. Paul begins this letter by rehearsing and reflecting upon grace. What happens when you behold the glory of God displayed in grace? Lord thank you, thank you, thank you. Have you ever been there? Have you ever been in that moment you are amazed at the power and the goodness of God in the gospel of Jesus Christ? If you want to share in the pleasure of gratitude, you have to be willing to lay it all aside for the sake of the cross. There is no limit to the increase of the gospel graces of faith, hope, and love, because the depths of the gospel are ever more sweet and ever more fulfilling. Never outgrow the gospel. Never get beyond it. Never withhold it, or separate it from any part of your life. Be not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith.
