Many modern praise songs could just as easily be sung to a boyfriend as to God the Father. This is not how worship is depicted in the Psalms nor is it the history of the early church. The words were always paramount and the authors were the great heroes and theologians of the faith not simply musically gifted co-eds using the Christian music scene as a stepping stone to greater fame and fortune in the world of secular music.
