Just at the Jews in the time of Jesus who refused to personally enter the Kingdom failed to recognise the narrowness of opportunity that was open before them, so many in our day can wrongly assume God's grace has no cut off point. Assuming there was relationship when there is none is a false hope after the door has closed.
Jesus shocked the Jews who falsely relied on their 'spiritual connections' when they heard that they would be thrown out whilst Gentiles will take their place at God's table with patriarchs and prophets. His love for his own never ceased even though he knew that the Jerusalem whom he longed to gather to himself would be the very city that would crucify him.
There is nothing narrow about this love of God but let there be no slackness and stubbornness of unbelief in receiving it and entering the Kingdom.
