In Acts 13 we begin to follow Paul's first missionary journey. Paul and Barnabas are sent by the Antioch Baptist Church on an evangelistic, church-planting mission.
Acts 13 establishes local church autonomy and independence (reinforced throughout the New Testament) and demonstrates that any church not operating under Baptist polity is not a true church. They may have saved members, but they are illegitimate as an assembly.
We will discuss some transitional gifts in operation during this apostolic era (such as hearing the audible voice of the Holy Ghost) that are not permanent New Testament practices. The New Testament books had not been written, yet, but once written, would establishe the voice of God for the believer.
We will see how the Apostle Paul handles a first century 'Harry Potter' named Elymas, who was corrupting his generation with sorcery.
And we will see that 'doctrine' is central to the purpose of a true church and true man or woman of God.
