What is adultery? Before you answer, read Jesus's words in the Sermon on the Mount. You may be surprised. The standard to which we hold ourselves is often worlds apart from what is required by our Lord.
Jesus uses the Seventh Commandment as a teaching tool to help his hearers see their need for the gospel.

Great Sermon! Thank you so much for sharing! So refreshing to hear the truth from others who love Him and who He lives in. I have to remind myself...and the members of my flesh do on a regular basis, that it is not I but Christ who *lives* in me, I've been crucified with Him; therefore don't fool and be fooled and let dead things be my desire and keep me from doing what I want to do. Let His light He graciously gives me shine. HE'S what I desire. Yet another beautiful example of His eternal grace love justice oh man..what John said. What kind of love IS THIS that even allows us to be called His sons! What Christ does! Incredible...I just love His word...He is the Word!:)

Excellent Excellent resource for anyone who wants a better understanding of the Biblical definition of adultery and what it means. Dr. Baucham is right on with his teaching.

Great Sermon! How sad it is that my husband denied me and our Lord as I homeschooled our three children he entered into and stayed in adultery with a woman for 14 years and planned two children with her. How sad that they will not have a father in truth and that our children missed his attention and time ..and he lost out on all aspects of our lives .Still married but he insists upon withholding love and affection. He stays in connection with the kids of the adultery and supports but hates the OW and we are in deep debt due to his incontinence...Thanks Voddie for plain speaking . Too bad he would not hear nor make repentant reconciliation while still in our marriage and home. He will not hear truth nor seek to be enabled to bring those children to Christ , The OW hates Christ. She knew he was married and I witnessed to her ..she intentionally had children to gain the money . She does not care for them well despite the great amounts of cash we give her over the amounts that the social services would require. It is a loss for all ...Please pray for us to keep strength in our walk no matter what he decides . our adult children remain unmarried with no dating . Virtue will win out in their case but it is sorrowful to observe his continued selfishness and hardness of heart

Always be killing sin! Voddie answers the question: What is the problem with adultery?
"We were never meant to be satisfied on this side of eternity."
"We are seeking what we can never have through a relationship that God has never ordained."
"Adultery is a perversion of the Gospel!"
"Faithfulness in our marriages is a picture of faithfulness to Christ."
"There is not a woman/man in this world that will satisfy you. Only the bridegroom himself!"
The purpose of Marriage is 3 fold:
1. Procreation
2. Santification
3. Illustration
"God is callling us to an eternal perspective. Not an outward legalism."
This message again identifies the power of lust.
Christ centered application of Mat. 5:27-30
1. Adorn yourself in a manner that honors your bridegroom (Christ). That identifies you as belonnging to him. And give no impression of seeking to please another.
2. I must not seek to steal the attentions or affections of another. Which is essentially to compete with Christ for HIS place in their life and offer an inferior substitute that can never satisfy.
3. I must satisfy myself by intimate relationship with Christ. Seeking from another will not satisfy and is idolatry.
4. I must do all of the above with the understanding that I am totally dependent on Christ.

Great Sermon! Adultery is Idolatry. It is the breaking of the 1st, 7th and 10th commandments. Great connection!

Voddie said "Adultery is a perversion of the Gospel." Amen!

Great Sermon! Thank you for going beyond the surface problem and defining/exposing the true root of problems. We have listened to many of your sermons since first reading your book, The Everloving Truth. We have been inspired by them all and use these truths as our family endeavors to keep "the faith" alive and well in our children and grands.
God bless you and yours.

You are right on! I only wish my adulterous husband would listen to this sermon! We have been Christians all of our lives, but somewhere along the way he has allowed the adversary to take the front seat. I pray continually for him, that he might find Christ, once again, and ask for His forgiveness. I need your prayers that he might repent and seek His Face. Thank you so much for your strong Godly and family beliefs, in a world full of despair!
