If I am alive on this earth, my aim is to exalt Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:9 says, “Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.” Our desire should be to please the Lord. When we get to the end of our lives, we want to be able to say, “For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing” (2 Timothy 4:6-8). At our last breath, the Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:8, “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” In death, the child of God goes immediately to heaven to dwell in the presence of Christ. This morning I want us to gain a glimpse of the Apostle’s heart and see what made it beat. It is my prayer that his white hot zeal for Jesus Christ and the gospel will encourage us as we have Heaven on our Mind. |
