When children are baptized into Jesus Christ, we take a great responsibility upon ourselves: 1. who must be baptized? 2. why must they be baptized? 3. when must they be baptized?
Questions to think about during the sermon: Introduction: 1 Why – a hundred years ago – did wise old men suggest that the church was becoming an extension of the delivery room? Point 1: 2 Does the Bible say that children have to be baptized? 3 Why does Paul mention children in 1 Corinthians 7? What does this prove? 4 What does it mean to become ‘like children’? Point 2: 5 How does the Lord make His covenant children different from the world? 6 In which ways can we hinder our children? 7 To whom did Jesus give the command that they should not ‘hinder the children’? So … to whom does this command apply today? [What are you doing for the children of the congregation?] Point 3: 8 When were children circumcised in the Old Testament? What can we learn from that?
