John Owen is worthy of our attention because of his example as a Christian man, his brilliance as a theologian, and the enduring value of his written works.
Here we trace his life from his birth and early career as a scholar, through his spiritual agonies in seeking peace with God, his early ministry, his relationship with Cromwell through the turbulent years of the Civil War, up to the point of his vice-chancellorship of Oxford University.

Great Sermon! I listened to this very early this morning and enjoyed and look forward to parts 2 & 3. Really like bios of the giants of faith. But also felt a real sadness as you laid out history and seeing how your country and my country have spiraled downward to a mere shadow if what they once were. Our Lord continue to bless your ministry to Him and to His people.

Excellent Bio material I happened to be narrating John Owen's Communion with Christ for Sermon Audio this morning and found this series today. I listened to all three of them one after another. It was thoroughly enjoyable. After hearing this I feel like I need to narrate something out of his works Volume one on the excellency of Christ. This dear theologian was thoroughly balanced, and Christo-centric. All saints should read something out of volume 6 of his works "Sin and Temptation" at least once a year.
