Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of ...? Galatians 1 The theme of Galatians is the grace of God. Today's message — Freedom in the Faith. The author — Paul His calling—an apostle The Jewish legalists were accusing Paul of three things: They said, “He was a false apostle.” They charged that he preached a false gospel. They claimed that Paul's gospel would produce a false righteousness. His confirmation—The Apostles The audience— “The churches at Galatia” The argument—Freedom in the Faith It is a work of grace. The grace test: People around me feel accepted by me, especially my family? I know the difference between condemnation and conviction? I am overwhelmed with God's love for me? I relate to God as a child to a father rather than a slave to a master or student to a teacher? The word “rest” would describe how I am on the inside most of the time. When I explain the gospel, people sometimes ask, “Does this mean I can go out and sin?” I realize the Ten Commandments are not for the Christian, but for the non-Christian. I realize more and more I can do nothing without the indwelling Christ. “For to me to live is…?” I believe the deepest desire of every Christian is to please God. The marks of a Christian disciple are that: 1. They love Him (depend on Jesus). and 2. They love one another. It is a work of God, by His grace.
