All of us experience physical, emotional, and spiritual tsunamis and thus we need 'safe places' to weather the storms of life. Moses living with and leading a group of complainers knew the importance of having a safe place where he could retreat from the stress and pressures of life. He designated his tent as his safe place and from there he communed with God and was transformed by His glory. When he desired to see God's glory, God sheltered Moses in the "cleft of the rock"-- a safe place and from there he observed God's presence and was awed by His glory. When David was fleeing from Absalom, he designated the wilderness of Judas as his safe place. And there he remembered God's loyal love to the praise of HIs glory! All of us need safe places, sanctuaries, where we can commune with God, observe His presence, and reflect on His loyal love for us.
