6/12/2022 Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:13-6:2 Text: 2 Corinthians 5:20-21 Sermon: BE RECONCILED TO GOD! I. The Goal of this Reconciliation (vs 21b) II. The Cost of this Reconciliation (vs 21a) III. The Call of this Reconciliation (vs 20)
"WE IMPLORE YOU ON CHRIST'S BEHALF, BE RECONCILED TO GOD." "Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." 2 Corinthians 5:20-21
This morning Pastor Randy will teach on a verse that could be called "The Transaction of Grace." Salvation came at great expense. It came at the cost of the suffering and death of the incarnate Son of God. Our study will culminate with verse 20, where the Apostle urges his readers to be reconciled to God! Theological point: Imputation is an amazing truth. It teaches first that Adam's sins are imputed or credited to our accounts such that we all inherit the sin and guilt of Adam and Eve. This is called ORIGINAL sin… because of this we also commit ACTUAL sin. 2 Corinthians 5:21 teaches us that there can also be a legal transferal of Christ's righteousness… this is also an imputation but this time of grace for our good.
