Only when we accept the biblical diagnosis of the human condition can we begin to really appreciate how great God's grace is. Unless we grasp the truth of a rebel humanity, dead in sin - enslaved to the world, the flesh and the evil one and deserving of God's wrath – we will never realize how rich God is in His mercy, how huge is His love for us and how great His power in bringing us out of death into life. This is a magnificent work of total grace that we had no part in because we were utterly helpless – unable to save ourselves. But now by faith in Christ we have been lifted to the place of highest dignity at the Father's right hand as those who have been marvellously recreated for a life of good works. Whilst the power of evil was great to bring our humanity into disobedience and death, it has been overwhelmingly overcome by the power of God's kindness in Christ. How good it is to know that God has raised us in Christ from death to life!
