Observations Joseph wished to put away Mary for suspected fornication because they were betrothed to each other and their marriage had not yet consummated. This goes along with the excepting clause of Matthew 19:9: "except [it be] for fornication", not for adultery. To rely on liberal PCA scholarship, or on corrupt versions is not advisable. Christ showed disapproval of divorce when he said 'for the hardness of your heart Moses allowed divorce’. Earnest exegesis avoids casuistry. To say God is a divorcee is irreverent. Jeremiah 3 uses a figure of speech, or a strong allegory to show Israel her sin. Though the tribes of Israel ceased to exist, God brought the completion of his plan for his redeemed, in that Christ loved his church and gave himself for it.

Great Sermon! This is really heavy. I've never heard this preached before in what is in the prophets.
