Last week we mentioned how the Lord recognized faith while on the earth. He also noticed the works of some. These works were not in order to be saved, but because of salvation. In Mark 14, Jesus said of the woman who anointed his head with oil, that the work would be a memorial to her where ever the gospel is preached. In Mark 14, the woman's act was an act of honoring Jesus. verse 8 mentions, she did what she could. 1)her work was not compared to what others could do. 2) the value of the ointment was not considered 3) Jesus was only concerned with her act of honor. We also notice the widow with the 2 mites, in Mark 12:41-44. Jesus recognized faith and he recognizes works also. Each of us could be one remembered for our work and labor of love. 1 Thess. 1:3 Hebrews 6:10 Revelation 14:12,13 This Scripture is true for all who die in the Lord. 1) it is why the saints serve with patience 2) it is why the saints serve with patience 3) those who die in the Lord are truly blessed 4) it is rest from labor 5) their works do follow them Your works do follow you. Your works will follow you to heaven your rewards or consequences to the eteral world. John Gill says it is encouragement to labor and support in the trials of life. 1) That all that the righteous od and suffer here will be appropriately recompensed there 2) eternity will be a prolongation of the present life 3) by our conduct here, we can lay the foundation for happiness millions of ages hence. Think of those who have impacted your life. You are a memorial to them. Give honor to whom honor is due, Romans 13:7 Romans 2:6,7 1st Corinthians 15:58
