David, during his, approximately 10 years of being pursued by King Saul, penned down this emotionally charged Psalm. Depicting a deeply troubled heart, displayed in an unfeigned conversation/communion with YHWH. In His profound distress, raised four series of questions, beginning with "how long". A reality that, not only attended to David (Psalm. 22v1 – 2; v19, but also to Jesus Christ, when He hang on the Cross – (Matt. 27v47). That deep agony which triggers thought to assumably ask: "where is God? Or God is no longer interested in…; or God has turned a deaf ear toward…or He has hidden His glorious countenance or HE NO LONGER DELIGHTS in Me. Plainly put, the LORD has – "forgotten, forsaken, abandoned and ultimately, He is favoring oppressor, than me". Therefore; this is relative to our thinking when times of difficulty present themselves. The rationale is intensified when our repose in God's discernable comforts seem threatened or interfered with/by unexplainable difficulties; causing the anguish is the soul. Yet we forget that; in time of difficulties, especially when we think that God is far from us; that's when He is the nearest to us to render sufficient comfort, and shepherd our souls (Psalm 23v4) for our good and for His own glory.
