Under the old covenant ignorance of the law would result in Israel being cast out of the land they received from God. God provided a system to overcome this problem. The Levites were commanded to teach the people the law of God. Their cities were purposefully scattered throughout the tribes of Israel. This was to have a preservative effect on the nation of Israel as they taught the people how to worship God as He had commanded. In this way they were designed to keep Israel in the covenant. In the new covenant, it is Jesus who teaches and leads us in worship. This sermon directs us to grow in our understanding and strengthen our faith in the Savior who makes us worshippers of the one, true God.
