Fear and anxiety is the environment in which greed thrives. Feeling as if you don't have what you need, drives you to work toward material goals, to the neglect of other responsibilities. Greed is disguised as financial wisdom and good planing, even stewardship. Preoccupation with material things cools down your heart for Jesus. Worry and greed are connected. Worry drives greed. If we can deal with worry, we can deal with greed. Being consumed with material possessions is beneath the high human calling. Life is more than food and clothing. Fear will cause you to make decisions that make life less than it is intended to be. Greed is demeaning, unnecessary, ineffective, blasphemous, and pagan. Why would a person who honours God, not honour God when it comes to provision. Greed never brings a person to satisfaction because people are made for so much more. Solomon had so much money, yet he couldn't even make himself more beautiful than a flower. God is not opposed to beauty in clothing or other aesthetics, but He is opposed to a failure to trust Him. We may think that our worry is about our circumstances, but it is always a heart issue before God. You are not trusting God. God knows what you need. What an insult to God to immobilise yourself through worry and greed. Is God possibly building your faith through your frightening circumstances? To try to change circumstances will be trying to work against God. We know the purpose of life. How can we work against it? Stop using your circumstances as an excuse for sin. Think biblically rather than emotionally. Deal with the root of your greed and worry. God is pressing you to trust Him. Make God's priorities your own.
