There are thousands of books for sale on how to get what we want from God but few ask the question, why God doesn't answer more of our prayers. Could God answer more often? If He can than why doesn't He? The short answer is that He doesn't want to. As small children we were totally dependent on our parents or guardians for everything. Oh, we never thought about the basic needs like food and shelter or even where the money came from to provide the luxuries in life such as entertainment or comfort. Our primary focus in life was trying to get what we wanted, when we wanted it. Our first effort as a baby was to cry and the volume, as we quickly learned was to communicate the seriousness of the need. As we grew, we developed much more effective and subtle ways to get our way. It has been said that children are the best sales people on earth, they never take no for an answer and continually find ways to adjust their sales presentation for better results. Prayer is the way we present our requests to God, and much like children we look for ways to influence God to our way of thinking, but is that what God is looking for, a more effective presentation, or are we missing something more important here? This message addresses that very thing.
