The name Eve means "life" and we do tend to talk bad a great deal about Eve because of the events that occurred in Genesis chapter 3. Certainly she was guilty on her part for listening to the voice of the serpent and not to the command of God. While there isn't all that much recorded about Eve besides that episode, thanks to the patriarchal system, there is still some things for us to learn about Eve as a mother. It can be looked at as that she was to be the first mother of all human life born on Earth, which of course she was but as Ray Stedman said in his book Understanding Man, "This new name for the woman therefore reflects not a promise that Eve was to be the mother of all human beings, but rather that she is to be the mother of all those who would find life through Jesus Christ." So there are some positive things to be said about her as well. Today we will look at both the good and the bad and see just how human she was in the room she had for her kids.
