As David was bringing the Ark of the Covenant up to Jerusalem, there was intense joy, worship and celebration until Uzza tried to keep the ark from falling off the cart and onto the ground and when he touched it he was struck dead by God. David became both angry and afraid and did not continue to bring the ark to Jerusalem but left it at the house of Obed-edom for 3 months. David then found that he had not sought the Lord according to the ordinance and therefore this tragedy occurred. Later he directed the Levites to carry it correctly and brought it safely to Jerusalem. How often we are angry and depressed when the things we have done come back to bring disarray into our lives!
