The Jewish people are God's chosen people. But if the gospel is for everyone, Jew and Gentile, then what advantage is there to being a Jew? Is God being just?
In today's text Paul anticipates a number of questions or objections that he might hear from Jews regarding the gospel.
In today's message, Don examines four of these objections:
Objection #1 Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the benefit of circumcision?
Answer Great in every respect. First of all, that they were entrusted with the oracles of God.
Objection #2 What then? If some did not believe, their unbelief will not nullify the faithfulness of God, will it?
Answer May it never be! Rather, let God be found true, though every man be found a liar, as it is written, “ That you may be justified in Your words, and prevail when you are judged.” (Psalm 51:4)
Objection #3 But if our unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God, What shall we say? The God who inflicts wrath is not unrighteous is He?
Answer May is never be! For otherwise, how will God judge the world?
Objection #4 But if through my lie, the truth of God abounded to His glory, why am I also still being judged as a sinner? And why not say, (as we are slanderously reported and as some claim we say), “Let us do evil that good may come”?
