We begin a new series on the Beatitudes. In the first Beatitude we consider the blessing that comes from becoming a beggar of divine grace, "Blessed are the poor in spirit". That those who beg the Lord for grace, having no righteousness of their own, will receive the kingdom of heaven. We are exhorted to not be proud, but to be humbled in the sight of God, that He might lift us up. Preached at a Prayer Meeting on 05/18/21 from Matthew 5:1-3.
Outline: 1. The context: Christ the Mediator. 2. The character: poverty of spirit. 3. The blessing: the kingdom.
