Throughout his letter to the Galatian church, Paul never encourages discarding the Law, but he makes it clear that no one is justified by it. InGalatians 5:2-12, Paul gives a severe and startling warning to the Christians in Galatia to get back in the race. A Christian is a runner, in a spiritual sense. Our race is a long marathon of faith requiring endurance to persist despite the many hurdles (dangers, toils and snares) we might face; and, the Galatian church had been derailed off its course in listening to and following the errant teachings of the Judaizers. This situation necessitates Paul's warnings which graciously come with advice on how to run well.
Three Aids to Running Well
1. To run well, heed God's warning. (Galatians 5:2-4) 2. To run well, wait by faith for your righteousness. (Galatians 2:5-6) 3. To run well, ignore the Gospel naysayers. (Galatians 2:7-12)
