Jesus promises His disciples a clearer knowledge of God (25-28) He promises plainer communication of God (25) He assures them of the Father's love for them (26-27) He predicts His own return to the Father (28) The disciples misunderstand Jesus' promise (29-30) They wrongly interpret Jesus' promises as fulfilled (29) They base their faith on their wrong interpretation (30) Jesus nonetheless promises His disciples success (31-33) He questions their faith (31) He predicts their failure (32) He promises their victory (33) Applications Depend upon the Holy Spirit to make things clear! Grow in the love of God! Really believe! Take heart in facing tribulation—Jesus has already overcome the world!
