This chapter is very controversial. We have 3 strangers that visit Abraham in his tent. After they eat a meal cooked by Abraham, they get up to leave. As was the custom of the time, the host would walk with the visitors a way after they left. This is what Abraham did.________________________________________
17 And Jehovah said, Shall I hide from Abraham that which I do; God is here visiting Abraham in the flesh, and He is deciding whether to tell Abraham of what judgement is coming or if He should not tell Abraham. Most of the world doesn't like God's word and ways. They will not stand for His message. 18 seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? God had already made the prophecy that Abraham's descendants would become a great nation. So maybe Abraham would have a change of attitude towards God if He didn't tell Abraham of what was to come. 19 For I have known him, to the end that he may command his children and his household after him, that they may keep the way of Jehovah, to do righteousness and justice; to the end that Jehovah may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him. God knows He can trust Abraham, so God decides to tell Abraham what is going to happen. 20 And Jehovah said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; Here is the reason God has come: the cries of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah are so great He needed to come down and check it out firsthand. 21 I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know. .......
