The Gospel of Jesus Christ must be our sole decision helper. In this passage, Paul makes three different decisions. The theme in all three decisions is that the Gospel defines it: what will further the advance of God's kingdom and bring most glory to Christ. When the Gospel directs us, love for others trumps our love for comfort. Saying yes to the Gospel may mean saying no to others, even if it hurts. We must always submit to the Spirit's leading. Every decision we make is based on what is important to us. If the Gospel dominates our heart, it will dictate our decisions and God will honor them.
