Needs do not indicate sin. Man has a need to eat, man has a need to sleep. Both were evidenced before the fall. No matter how much man matures spiritually these needs will not go away. Both man and woman were created with needs and as part of the covenant of marriage each vows to sacrificially meet these needs. In this lecture Rev. Mahon begins to address the needs, the covenant vows which a husband and wife make to God and to each other on the basis of their created needs. This first vow is by the husband, to be the spiritual leader of the home. This presupposes a dedication on the part of the husband to love his wife as Christ loves the church, to sacrificially devote his life to her sanctification and to himself be a man of the Word of God.
