I The Marriage Covenant – Marriage by definition is a covenant relationship. It is different from love, sex or co-habitation. It is a covenant, a contractual relationship with God. It is not a covenant between the bride and groom, between he couple and the church, state or family it is a covenant with God. As such it is a high and holy estate. As such the terms are defined by God and not man. As such it we would do well to discover what God is holding us to in this bond which nothing save death can sever. II Conceived and Defined By God – The roots of the covenant of marriage are not to be found in the New Covenant, nor the Old Covenant, The Law, the Patriarchs nor the fall. The roots and origin of the covenant of marriage predates all these and can be found in the very nature of our creation. Marriage is a concept conceived and defined by God and it is to God and His holy Word to which we submit all questions concerning marriage.
