Continuing to expose and rebuke the Jew leadership, Jesus warned that fear and anxiety were incompatible with kingdom living. Two forms of anxiety were noted, being fearful of persecution and being overly concerned with worldly cares. In this message, we develop the big picture concerning the kingdom of God--God's present reign over all creation. Two errors blinded the Jews to the kingdom and their rejection of Christ, Messiah. First, they assumed the nature of the kingdom to be national and political. Second, the believed Messiah would overthrow the Gentiles and make the nation of Israel first in the world. Jesus, however, demonstrated the spiritual nature of the kingdom and its inclusion of people of all nations and races. Jesus assured His followers, "Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom" (v. 31).
