I. He Reminds them of the Past A. God's Anger (v. 2) B. Their father's disobedience (v. 4) C. God's powerful word (vv. 5, 6) Three applications: 1. God is serious about holiness. 2. God beckons sinners to return! 3. There are no idle threats from God. II. He Calls them in the Present (v. 3) Conclusion Where is Christ? Well God has every right to be angry with us for our sins. God's punitive holy just wrath has been vented on His Son, Jesus Christ so that there is no wrath or condemnation for those in Christ! 1 Thess. 5:9, 10: "For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him."
Unbeliever: you can escape God's anger by repenting and believing in His Son and you will be delivered from the wrath to come. John 3:36, "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him."
