Recovering from a Fall into Temptation [The Blessedness of Confessing Sin] Psalm 32:1-7Return to God for forgiveness and restoration. This chapter shows what happens when our sin is concealed and also when it is confessed, cleansed, and conquered. It speaks of the delight of being delivered from sin.The psalmist's instruction is clear and compelling: do not harbor sin in your heart but confess it promptly to the Lord. When you do, you will find that God is waiting to forgive and cleanse you, to remove your guilt and restore you to fellowship with Himself. When we hide from God by refusing to deal with our sin, we forfeit His protection. And the further we get from God, the more susceptible we are to sin again. This leaves us even less protected than before. The cycle will only get worse, harder to break, until we yield to the stirrings of the Holy Spirit and give up our sinful habits. The best habit we can develop, of course, is to stay close to God every day, every hour, every moment. This requires more than a hastily uttered prayer on our part. It requires commitment of our time and energy, our hearts and souls, a decision never to allow the pleasures of sin to rob us of God's protective shelter.
