As we know, Mary was chosen to be the mother of Jesus. Not just any woman would do. God chose a woman who loved Him and served Him. She was the woman chosen to be the mother of the only begotten Son of God. Mary was highly favored because she loved God. And being highly favored of God and chosen to be the mother of Jesus makes her a great role model to consider for motherhood and Mother's Day. Considering the significance of mothers in determining the future of humanity by how they raise and shape the next generation, it is all the more important to include in our celebration the purpose of motherhood. Mary fulfilled this purpose of motherhood. The best mothers are those who are their best before God. These are the mothers who love God, serve God, and desire the will of God for their lives. In fulfilling this quest, they teach their children how to love and serve God. Every mother who teaches her children to love God fulfills His will for her life, which is expressed in Malachi 2:15 by the words, "That he might seek a godly seed."
