We are to put off stealing, which is rooted in deception and pride. This even includes forms of inconspicuous stealing, such as not giving to God, not working hard when we should, or stealing time from our spouses by not helping them out around the house. Instead, we are to put on giving, which the Gospel enables us to do, for God, the greatest Giver, gave His only Son who gave Himself up as an offering and sacrifice. We should then work hard, not for selfish reasons, but that we may have something to give to those in need.
**One application that was not mentioned was that the illegal download of music or movies from the Internet is also theft. No Christian has any justification or excuse for this kind of unjust stealing, regardless of who they are stealing from. We are to imitate Christ, not Robin Hood!
