Today millions of people around the world will be celebrating Mother’s Day. It is a day set aside not only to remember our mothers, but to give them the honor that is due to them as well. There is no more difficult job in the world than being a mother, and no more important one either. In this sermon I will deal with the dignity of motherhood, and will develop that theme according to the four points indicated in the outline. I will work from different texts in order to bring out the mother’s parenting role and the dignity of her high calling. Because of the nature of her role, every mother will influence her children more than any other person in the world. She will spend more time with them, and she will teach them by both precept and example. And her influence will be indelibly written upon the heart of each of her children. What is more important than molding and shaping the “wet clay” of a child’s life? That is why it is essential that mothers perform their God-ordained role according to the instructions revealed by God in Holy Scripture. That, along with the help of the Holy Spirit, is what will enable mothers to be successful.
