Christian, are you becoming spiritually mature? What does it mean to become spiritually mature? Where is spiritual maturity to be found? Does it come easily, or does it involve struggle?
Colossians 1:28-29 and other related passages tell us that the quest for spiritual maturity does involve a struggle. It's a never-ending labor against strong opposition. The reason is simple but profound: Satan does not want believers to become mature in Christ, and he especially arrays his forces against us on this front in the spiritual war.
But God has not posted us on the battlefront without the resources we need! What is the sacred task of preachers, teachers, parents, and other spiritual mentors who seek to bring others within church and family to maturity in Christ? What is your responsibility as an individual believer? What resources has God provided? How should you use them?
The Bible gives us clear answers, and that's our focus this week as we continue our series, Christ Above All: Studies in Colossians.
