SERMON INFO

1. THE SITUATION THE VISIT ENCOUNTERED

The beloved one came and found his lover despondent - she had gone through a winter experience.

"....lo, the winter is past" (v11)

Has your love for Christ "frozen up" ? It is times like this that the Lord can make visits and speak His Words of love to us.

2. THE EMOTION THE VISIT AROUSED

Her whole spirit seems stirred up - she knew his voice and it cheered her.

The child of God can discern the Lord`s Voice.

"Leaping"...skipping...." (v8)-her beloved is coming with eagerness, joy

3. THE INVITATION THE VISIT BROUGHT

"....Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." (v10)

When the Lord comes to us, He wants us to come away with Him.

i) Where ?

To a higher level of Christian living and service. To give more time to Him. Are we so busy the Lord is crowded out ?

ii) To What ?

A greater knowledge of the Lord - do we spend time and talk with Him ?

iii) From What ?

a) Our comfort zone - we need to be prepared to step out in faith into the deep

b) Our apathy in regard to the things of God

4. THE TRANSFORMATION THAT FOLLOWED THE VISIT

i) Passing of the winter - coldness and barrenness has gone through this visit

ii) Coming of the spring - fruitfulness and fragrance

Are you in a period of soul darkness ? The Lord is waiting to be gracious - take heart- keep doing the things that are right- He will come to you.

The Lord can do this also for the Church as well as the individual.
