1 Peter 2 Part 3: Many Christians have functional amnesia. However, if we will remember who we are in Christ and what He has done for us, it will be easier to do what He asks us to do. God chose us despite our past. If we are in Christ, we are a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession. It is a joy to be part of a holy nation, a people belonging to God. Our Chief function on Earth is to glory God and to enjoy Him forever. Christians must never forget that we were once lost and headed for Hell. What makes us Christians is Jesus. We cannot save ourselves. After we are saved, we will not fit in. Our goal is to please the Lord, that automatically puts us at odds with the world. The world is going one way (the broad path), Christians are on a different path (the narrow way). Christians still have a sin nature that we must die to daily. We must realize that those desires are waging war against our souls. The sinful desires we have our trying to kill us, when we realize that it makes it easier to resist. We are to say no to those desires if we are to follow Jesus Christ. We are to live towards an eye to the future and have an influence that points people to Jesus. Everyone, everywhere is religious, we just don’t all have the same religion. We are to live as foreigners. We are to live for Jesus.
