But in order to really understand this prayer, one must know who He is praying for. Verse 20, taken into the proper context of the entire chapter tells us this. 'Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word.'
Verse 20 picks up the section where Jesus prays for the Glorification of His Elect. All that the Father has given Him.
'Father, I will that they also whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold My glory.'
