Works of Jonathan Edwards In the first fifty years after Edwards's death, two editions of his works were published. This was followed by the publication of four volumes, prepared by Jonathan Edwards, Jr., between 1774 and 1801. After his death the writings were left under the control of his son Timothy Dwight, president of Yale College who planned to publish them but died before accomplishing it. All writings were then left in the custody of his son Sereno Dwight who added more manuscripts and wrote this biography. The new materials contained the letters of J.E. and his personal papers. Originally these comprised 10 volumes.
Yet the work was far from complete. It is only now being finished by the Yale publishers.
