I. The Necessity of Love (1-3)

a. Love must permeate all of the gifts; if it doesn’t, our greatest gifts are worthless.

b. Tongues, prophecy, faith, charity, self-sacrifice (1-3)

II. The Definition of Love (4-7)

a. What love is and what it is not (4-7; Jn. 15:13; Mark 12:30-31)

b. We only know true love if we know the true God (1 Jn. 4:16, 19; Jn. 3:16; 10:11

III. The Permanence of Love (8-13)

a. All gifts will pass away but love is permanent (8-10)

b. One day, the greatest gifts will seem childish (11-13)
