It is not just a matter of warning to not go drinking. More than just to be on the look our for what pleases our selves. We all have a common enemy. An enemy who is out on the prowl for us. An enemy who is looking to destroy us in anyway that he possibly can. As a roaring lion shows us he has power so it behooves us to obey this clear warning. To be sober means we are to be clear thinking, awake, and that our minds are focused on the task at hand. To be vigilant is like the sentry standing at the gate. His mission is to provide warning to those inside no matter what the cost. Our mission is to warn a lost and dying world that death and hell are coming for them if they don't heed the warning. His mission is to bring fear to us by roaring. The more he can terrify us into submission the easier time he has in attacking us. But when we are being sober and vigilant we throw a wrench into his schemes. When we get on the solid ground of Jesus we ain't got to worry about that overgrown kitty. Need some lion repellent? Spend more time with God and His word. We all go through trouble and have to endure temptation. If we stay focused in well doing we will have a bountiful harvest. If we are willing to be sober and be vigilant.
