Jesus, in His pointed guidance regarding the manner of prayer in verse 9, He speaks of: a) The directive of Prayer (9a) "…pray then in this way…" Secondly: b) The Design of prayer – v9b – "…Our Father…" The preface of prayer begins with: The adoration of God is considered under Three (3) descriptive ideas: a) The Regard Of God as – the Father. b) The Otherness Of God – "who is in heaven", acknowledges i) God's Transcendence ii) God's Omnipresence and God's Sovereignty. c) the Holiness Of God, encased in "hallowed be Your Name". This affirms: i) God's nature of holiness and ii) God's character, revealed in His name. This, in its primary regard, is comforting to the Saints, that the LORD, who is lofty, could condescend and relate to man. But, this is hope to the sinners, that the God who made the heaven and the earth, can save sinners and make them/adopt them, for His children.
