This week we return to our series through 2 Corinthians. In Chapter 11 Paul expresses both his love and his fear for the Corinthian believers as they are in danger of being led astray by the 'super-apostles'. He has preached nothing but Christ crucified to them, and in this, they lack nothing, as it came to them in a demonstration of the power of God. Yet, they are being distracted and deceived by the empty promises and the facade of glory the false teachers present as they belittle Paul and his ministry. In his 'divine jealousy' Paul names these imposters for what they are - servants of Satan himself, whose end will correspond to their deeds. We too have been 'betrothed to one husband' - Christ, but constantly face the danger and temptation to find our satisfaction and assurance elsewhere. The evil one has been intent on dividing and destroying all that God has joined together from the beginning of time. Our only hope is in Christ alone, who has laid down his life and has disarmed and triumphed over all rulers and authorities. Surely we would not look anywhere else for life and salvation... would we?
